Just this year for me. It is so fun finding something new and terrific quality. I still stop and gaze at Matilda and my heart melts. I just love her.

I can't pinpoint the exact date, but it was probably around 1993. I had finally gotten my head out of the books, graduated from college and settled down with a job when I "noticed" the AG catalog in my mail. "Noticed" being the operative word, because I was probably getting them all along, but I was too busy with my studies to notice.
I tell you I wanted one of those girls from that moment on, but it took me almost 12 years to finally break down and get one for myself.

I've been a fan since the first catalog in 1986. My daughter was less than a year old when it arrived but she was my excuse to get Sam (they look alike) and I just went on from there. That first catalog came as quite a shock. I had some Madame Alexander dolls as a kid and vaguely knew they were still around, but I knew from experience that they weren't all that playable. The AG dolls, on the other hand, looked like friends inviting me into their world. They still do.
I wanted an American Girl Doll for about 13 years prior to finally getting one (as an adult). I just got Samantha for a Christmas present to myself in September 2005.
Around October of last year DD decided she wanted Nellie for Christmas.. She asked for her everyday till Christmas , I am fully addicted we now have 7 dollies

For about 4 months now...
I was searching the ultimative holiday-gift for DD and stumbled over AG-dolls. She was never that Barbie-loving type of girl, her Barbies stand on her shelf for the most part, she was more interested in clothes, so DH considered me crazy for purchasing a 200$-doll.
Soon after DD got Kailey and loved her from the first moment (Kailey is mini-DD), I asked for Molly, because DD wouldn't share Kailey - I'm allowed to do her hair, but thats basically it.
DH told me to find a beautiful Molly on Ebay and purchase her (that was my X-mas gift), because Molly looks like me at that age (9, 10 y/o).
Marisol joined us 4 weeks ago, and we're hooked!

The first time I heard about AG was last year. My friend tried to get me to buy some Bitty Babies for my girls for Christmas. I said "the stuff is cute, but who the hell would spend *that* much on a doll?" I thought it was crazy.
Then this Christmas, my girls were desperate for Baby Born and Baby Annabell. DH and I ran around like crazy people to find these dolls and get them for them. Turns out, these dolls cost the same as the Bitty Babies!!!!!!!! So, the last laugh was on me.
I decided that if we were going to spend that much money, I want some dolls that will last long enough to give them years of enjoyment. Martina's mom and I are on another board together and she kept talking about AG so I decided to check out the website. Then I was hooked!!! It's all her fault
